HID ADJUST |
|
The right adjustment of the headlamp is very important. I changed a E46 HID projector onto my car several days ago, some brethren maybe changed Shock Absorbers or changed the H1 HID lamp. At this time, how to adjust the headlamp correct is indispensably.
I wrote an article about the adjustment of headlamp aimed at Mazda 6. The operation is very easy, everybody can DIY (Better to do this with an assistant). Just for your reference.
Foreword: The correct adjustment of the lighting system of the car is very important, not only related to the effect of lighting, but also related to the safety of the driver. We can find a lot of cars whose low beam was adjusted too high; it will make the car coming from the opposite feel dazed, very dangerous. Meanwhile, if you can not adjust the headlamp well, it will affect the lighting span and the effect of the lighting on the road. Even if you changed some upgraded halogen lamp, it's better to check whether the headlamp already in the right position or not. As even if hair like difference of the filament's position, the light on the road will be tremendous different.
The following adjustment doesn’t need special equipment or device, but it can help you get good lighting effect. You only to prepare sth like tape measure, pen or colorful adhesive tape, philips and hex wrench. |
Step 1: First of all,
find out a spot with horizontal ground and vertical white
wall -- for example, underground parking lot is a good choice.
Drive the car straight to the wall slowly, and stop at the
position close to the wall as near as possible. Draw a vertical
line in the position correspond with the centerline of the
car front on the wall (Note: In order to avoid polluting
the wall, i suggest use adhesive tape. it will be easy
to take off). Then back the car, stop at the position (
the distance from car front to the wall is 25 feet,
approximately 7.6 meters)
|
 |
Step 2: Let's do following two measures: A: Measure the height from the geometry center of headlamp's outer cover to the ground. Measure B: The distance from the center point of low-beam projector to the center point of car front (As to Mazda 6, it's the center point of the car mark) and the distance from the center point of high beam to the center point of car front. |
 |
Step 3: Draw two horizontal lines on the wall (can be replaced by two adhesive tapes, similarly hereinafter), one line correspond with metrical A in step 2: namely the height from the center of headlamp to ground. The other line will be 2 inches (approximately 5 centimeters) lower than the above height. According to the distance from high beam and low beam to the centerline of the car front. Use metrical B in step 2, measure from the centerline of the wall, point out the low beam position on the lower horizontal line with short vertical line, and point out the high beam position on the higher horizontal line with short vertical line either. Then we will find there are four cross on the wall, the below two cross correspond with the center turning point of low beam's dividing line. The above two cross correspond with center point of high beam's facula. |
 |
Step 4: (A) low-beam adjustment: Before adjustment, individual experience was: firstly, moves the height adjustment key of low-beam to “1” position (like this, we also reserve room to be possible to elevate highly to “0 positions”, although it’s not very useful, but precautions averts perils, when you drive on national highways, it would be useful).
Open low beam, you will find dividing line of light and shade on the wall.
Use screw driver adjust the height adjustment screw and right/left adjustment screw of the low beam to make the center of dividing line of low beam in the same position of the low beam signal on the wall. In the procedure of adjustment, you should adjust the left and right low beam dividedly, when you adjust the left one, you should shield the right one, vice versa.
(B) High-beam adjustment: Open the high beam, use screw driver adjust the height adjustment screw and right/left adjustment screw of the high beam in the same way. As there is no dividing line for high beam, only two pcs of facula on the wall, so we should adjust the center of the facula (the brightest point) aim at the high beam signal on the wall. If you feel dazed, can not distinguish the center of the facula, we suggest you put on dark glasses, which will be better to find the chiaroscuro.

On the case of the adjustment of high low of the headlamp
of Mazda 6. First of all, open the hood, you will find there
are two adjust screw for high beam and low beam, you can see
the attached picture as below. You will find the right and
left adjustment screws are at the edges of the headlamp assembly.
You need to put a screw driver pass through a black hole to
reach the location of adjustment screws. Additionally, you
can use Philips or hex Wrench to adjust the adjustment screws,
as they are engineering plastics products. So you should be
gentle when you do the adjustment. I suggest you use suitable
hex wrench. The above mentioned process can be finished within
10 minutes with two people, very convenient.
